                                                          Full Day - Birdwatching Tour

  • Pick up from Quito city: 

The pick up time will be coordinate from your hotel in Quito at 3:45 a.m. 

  • Visit the Paz Reserve at 1,600 msl / 6,000 feet - Temperate forest: 

Species in the reserve: Yellow-breasted Antpitta. Like most antpittas, Giant Antpitta, Chestnut-crowned Antpitta, Moustached, Ochre-breasted and Yellow-breasted, along with Rufous-breasted Antthrush. 

  • Other birds in the reserve: 

Violet-tailed Sylph, Empress Brilliant, Velvet-purple Coronet, Western Emerald, Golden-headed Quetzal, Red-headed and Toucan Barbets (upper forest), Crimson-rumped Toucanet, Plate-billed Mountain-toucan, Narino Tapaculo, Orange-breasted Fruiteater, Olivaceous Piha (seldom), Golden-winged Manakin and Black-chinned Mountain-tanager. In addition, good opportunity to watch Dark-backed Wood-quail, Lyre-tailed Nightjar and Scaled Fruiteater.  

  • Andean-Cock of the Rock Lek:

Spectacular opportunity to watch one of the Cloud Forest symbols, the famous Andean Cock of the Rock. Frequent visitor of the lek in this area. You will be able to photograph it a few meters away from the viewpoint. For this we recommend you bring a camera with a telephoto lens of 200 to 300 mm.

  • Humminbird Sanctuary:

We will observe other species of hummingbirds that could not be found in the previous reserve, such as the White-booted Racktail or the White-bellied Woodstar
